Founded in 1994, Children Today is a non-profit organization that raises funds to provide specialised equipment and services for children and young people with disabilities throughout the UK. Often children and young people with disabilities remain excluded from activities and a lifestyle which some people may take for granted. All children and young people should be able to live as independently as possible and have access to everyday activities. Their aim is to ensure that every disabled child and young person achieves their potential and their dreams.
Our Head of Marketing, Ed Carney, first heard of Charlie’s appeal whilst driving the car, taking his own children to school and in his own words, it was “kind of fate” that at that time we were looking for a new charity to support.
“Charlie is a boy who urgently needs a specialist seating system for his safety and comfort,” said Ed.
“At Skipton Business Finance, caring and devotion are just some of the values at the forefront of our brand, so we immediately wanted to help. And from that point onwards, we started this supportive partnership with Children Today.”
Therefore, we decided to do a bake sale in The Bailey, which is our amazing head office, shared with the Skipton Building Society. Who doesn’t love a good bake sale? And who doesn’t love an amazing cause like this one? Our very own Sophie Brown and Abigail Gillson baked over 250 brownies and cupcakes and what a choice there was! Our amazing team worked tirelessly over the course of two full days, in order to make the best of this opportunity to raise money for Charlie. From t-shirts to banners, we went all out to spread this message of positivity and care.
Sophie and Abigail did a stellar job, and the cakes were sold out in just a few hours. Through the efforts of our team and the generosity of the people who donated, we raised a “WHIPPING” £500! We are very proud to continue to support Children Today and look forward to the next opportunity.
