Branson voted UK’s favourite Entrepreneur

Sir Richard Branson has been voted the UK’s favourite entrepreneur in a study carried out by Orange business. 35% of respondents cited Branson as the entrepreneur they most would like to emulate. Branson pipped Lord Alan Sugar to the top spot as Sugar received 24% of the vote. Other entrepreneurs who received votes included three of the Dragons level-pegging on 3% apiece; Theo Paphitis, Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones. This served to highlight just how programmes such as The Apprentice and Dragons’ Den have increased awareness of entrepreneurs and what they do. Approximately half of respondents were said to have a positive view on the UK’s entrepreneurial credentials, believing that the country was famous and respected for producing entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurial spirit also is rubbing off on the general public, with more than a third of the working population revealing they have come up with a business idea they believed could be successful.
