Interview - SBF Employee (Siobhan Curran)

Every month we literally put one of our employees under the spotlight and ask them a series of professional, and personal, questions. This month, it's Siobhan Curran. How old are you? 24

What's your professional background? After passing my A Levels I went on to complete a Joint Honours degree in English Literature and History of Art at the University of Leeds, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I completed some voluntary work and then an internship at The Leeds Museum Discovery Centre, which is basically where the collections are housed and cared for, and I worked with the curator for costume and textiles, helping to organise exhibitions and well as general conservation work. During all of this, I also worked in the cake shop at my local supermarket. What do you do at SBF?I have recently become an Operations Support Executive.

What are your primary responsibilities?I've inherited a portfolio of clients and I help manage their accounts. I speak to clients and their customers on a daily basis, dealing with, and resolving any issues that may arise. I perform credit control, collecting and allocating payments so that clients are able to draw down money into their account. I am also enrolled and working through the ABFA Foundation Course in Invoice Finance, which has helped my understanding of the industry as a whole, as well as my personal training.

What’s the best thing about your job?As I am fairly new to the role, I am enjoying my training and building up relationships with my clients.

What was your childhood ambition? To be a journalist.

What are your hobbies?I love to paint, but I am the worst person for starting big projects and not finishing them, so there are often random canvases and sketchbooks scattered around!

Favourite film?I am a Harry Potter fan!

Favourite ice cream? Not a massive fan of ice cream, so pass the chocolate instead.

Favourite band / artist?I love Florence and the Machine, who I can’t wait to see in March at the MEN Arena.

Favourite food?Anything spicy, such as Thai food.

Favourite colour?Purple

Favourite cartoon? The Simpsons. I could watch it all day long!

Favourite sitcom?I have recently discovered the US Office, which is well worth a watch!

You wouldn’t know it by looking at me but...I trained for years as a ballet, tap and modern dancer, so I know my way round the dance floor!
