Supporting the Road Haulage Association's Call for Industry-Specific Support

As a proud supporter of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), we are urging the Chancellor of the Exchequer to implement key financial measures that will safeguard the future of the haulage and logistics sector when the 2024 Autumn Budget is announced on Wednesday 30th October.

These industries are the backbone of the UK economy and it is essential that the government recognises the significant pressures they face.

We are calling on the Chancellor to introduce policies that provide meaningful support to our sector, including:

  • A continued freeze on fuel duty to avoid additional cost pressures on businesses that rely on transportation
  • Tax incentives for using alternative fuels, encouraging the transition to more sustainable energy sources while reducing operating costs
  • Full expensing for leased vehicles, allowing businesses to manage their fleets more effectively and stimulate economic growth
  • Increased investment in road infrastructure to improve safety, reduce congestion, and ensure smoother operations for haulage and coach companies

Why This Matters  rha-logo.png

As the economic landscape remains challenging, it is more important than ever that the Treasury does not impose further tax burdens on the haulage and logistics sector. These sectors are already dealing with increased fuel costs, supply chain issues, and inflation. Further financial pressures could lead to higher operating costs, job losses, and reduced service availability—affecting the entire economy.

By supporting the RHA's campaign, we aim to ensure that the needs of our industry are heard and that the government takes the necessary steps to protect its future.

What SBF Have Done

We have made Members of Parliament (MPs) aware of the challenges our industry is facing. By highlighting the importance of the measures outlined above, we have ensured that our concerns are shared with key decision-makers. This proactive approach aims to help the Treasury take necessary action to support the continued success of haulage & logistics sector cross the country.

We stand with the RHA and urge the government to prioritise policies that will sustain and grow our vital industry.
