The Skipton Business Finance Communities Matter Scheme

Supporting the causes that matter most to you

At Skipton Business Finance, we know that incredible things happen when communities come together. Our Communities Matter Programme celebrates and supports the local charities and community groups making a real difference every single day.

This is your opportunity to spotlight the causes close to your heart and help us direct funding to the organisations where it’s needed most. Each month, two local projects will receive £500 each to support their important work and make a lasting impact in the community.

What kind of projects can we support?

We welcome applications from a wide range of community groups and good causes. For example:

  • A local sports team raising funds for equipment or training opportunities
  • A community centre hosting lunches or social events for older people
  • A voluntary organisation helping to run a food bank
  • A Brownie or Scout group needing equipment for activities and projects
  • A youth initiative providing food for a breakfast or after-school club
  • A community craft or knitting group looking for materials for members

These are just a few examples. If your group is not-for-profit and focused on supporting and strengthening your local community, you may be eligible to apply.

Take a look at one of the recent charities supported by Skipton Business Finance through our Communities Matter Scheme and see the difference this funding can make.

We supported Torpoint Athletic Youth FC - Cremyll with a small grant to help better equip the club, get more children involved and help create a great environment to improve the the mental health of those  children. Here's what the team at Torpoint had to say.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to not-for-profit organisations and community groups delivering a positive impact locally, especially those with limited access to funding elsewhere. If your group exists to make life better for people in your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Who can nominate?

Clients can nominate via their Relationship Manager, and financial intermediaries via their Regional Director. Nominations can be submitted at any time, and successful applicants will be notified following the close of each nomination period. Your Relationship Manager or Regional Director will guide you through the quick and simple process.

Who is not eligible?

To ensure funding reaches the groups who need it most, we cannot accept applications from:

  • Individuals
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs) with shares
  • CICs limited by guarantee for less than two years
  • Profit-making organisations
  • Schools or school-led projects

Together, we can help direct £500 grants to the people and projects making a real difference in local communities.
